The helicopter crashes in the Hudson River in New York City; 5 killed, looking for 1 more: sources

Five out of six people on board were killed when a helicopter crashed on the Hudson River for Bajo Manhattan in New York City on Thursday afternoon, they told ABC News to ABC News.

There is an ongoing search for a sixth person on board.

The helicopter took a pilot, two adults and three children, according to sources of application of the law. Family members were tourists from Spain, fountains said.

The helicopter was in the air for about 12 minutes before the accident.

Dani Horbiack told ABC News that he saw the helicopter “fall from the sky” from the window of his apartment.

“I heard five or six strong noises that sounded almost like shots in the sky and I saw that the pieces fell, then I saw him fall into the river,” said Horbiack.

“He was walking and the helicopter fell at an angle of 45 degrees,” Eric Campoverde told ABC News. “Great splash, I was very afraid.”

“It sounded like a sononic boom,” said a witness New York Wabc ABC Station. He said he saw the “helicopter divided into two with the rotor flying.”

Another witness told Wabc that “a propeller broke into pieces.”

The helicopter, identified by the Federal Aviation Administration as Bell 206 helicopter, was the other way around in the water of 50 degrees when rescuers arrived at the scene, which was closer to the New Jersey side of the Hudson River, according to Fuentes.
