Putin ‘Playing Games’ with the US Peace Conversations

London – President Volodymyr Zelenskyy again asked the United States to apply more pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin in search of peace conversations to end the invasion of his 3 -year -old neighbor of Moscow, already measured that long -range drone strikes continued.

“The Russian strikes are becoming more and more scarf every night,” Zelenskyy wrote in a telegram night message, after consecutive days of intense Russian strikes that involve more than 900 drones and attack missiles.

“There is no military logic in this, but it is a clear political choice, the choice of Putin, the choice of Russia, the choice to continue fighting war and destroying lives,” Zelenskyy wrote.

“The new and strong sanctions against Russia, the United States, Europe and all those who are in the world seeking peace, will serve as a guaranteed means to force Russia not only to cease fire, but also to show respect,” said Zelenskyy.

“Putin must begin to respect those who speak,” the president wrote. “For now, he is simply playing with diplomacy and diplomats. That must change.”

The Ukrainian president is trying to frame Putin as the key impediment to a peace agreement, since kyiv navigates a frantic bilateral relationship with the administration of President Donald Trump.

Months of the peace conversations negotiated in the United States have not been able to produce a durable fire or a clear frame for a peace agreement.

The frustration of the Trump building has been evident. This weekend, Trump said Putin had become “absolutely crazy”, while rebuking Zelenskyy for causing “problems” with his public statements.

Kyiv is pressing for a 30 -day fire during which peace conversations can take place. Russia has so far rejected the proposal.

Putin told Trump in a phone call last week that Moscow was preparing a memorandum that establishes its negotiation position. But Kyiv and his European partners have accused Kremlin of intentionally stagnate discussions.

The spokeswoman of the Foreign Ministry of Russia, Maria Zakharova, told journalists in an informative session on Tuesday that Moscow is still developing her memorandum, which she will be sent to kyiv as soon as she is completed.

“We hope that the Ukrainian side will be doing the same job and send us its developments simultaneously with the reception of the Russian document,” said Zakharova.

Zelenskyy on Monday showed doubts about the Russian proposal. “More than a week have passed,” he wrote. “They talk a lot about diplomacy. But when, in the midst of all that, there are constant Russian strikes, constant murders, implacable assaults and even preparations for new offensives.”

Ukrainian leaders have repeatedly appealed to Trump to impose new and harder sanctions on Moscow to boost Kremlin to degrade their maximalist war objectives. Those include the annexation of stripes of Ukrainian territory, Ukrainian demilitarization and a permanent block in the adhesion of the country to NATO.

Ukrainian requests have been left unanswered, despite Trump’s threats to introduce new sanctions to press Putin in negotiations.

Both Russia and Ukraine continued drone strikes on Monday night until Tuesday morning.

The Ukrainian Air Force said it demolished 43 of 60 Russian drones launched into the country, with impacts confirmed in nine locations and debris falls in three locations.
