FSU Shooting Last: At least 6 injured, suspect in custody

At least six people were injured in a shooting at Florida State University in Tallahassee on Thursday, according to Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare.

A person is in a critical condition and five are in serious condition, according to the hospital.

The number of injured is subject to changes, sources told ABC News, since the police are actively looking for to determine how many could be injured.

A suspect is in custody, several sources told ABC News, and added that the search for possible additional shooters is ongoing.

The shooting took place near the student union, according to a FSU alert, which had advised students to continue protecting in their place due to the reports of an active shooter.

The student Daniella Streety told ABC News that she was in the building on the other side of the Student Union Street when the alert sirens began to sound, and the people who were stopped outside came up with her building.

Then, the students fled the students union when the police flooded the scene, he said.

“It’s too early to understand the scope of violence, but the first reports are very disturbing,” said representative Neal Dunn, R-Fla. He said in a statement. “Refugio instead. Keep safe. Thanks to our brave lifeguards for responding to the situation.”

The Department of Application of Florida’s law said it is “actively involved in the incident.” The FBI is also helping the university authorities, said a spokesman for the ABC News agency.

President Donald Trump has been informed about the shooting, according to the White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt.

FSU said classes are canceled until Friday.
